Music Together® is:
- An internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and the adults who love them.
- A research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.
Basic Principles of the Music Together Philosophy
- All children are musical
- All children can achieve basic music competence (the ability to sing in tune and move with accurate rhythm)
- The participation and modeling of parents and caregivers, regardless of their musical ability, is essential to a child’s musical growth
- This growth is best achieved in a playful, developmentally appropriate, non-performance-oriented learning environment that is musically rich and yet immediately accessible to the child’s - and the adult’s! - participation
Central to the Music Together approach is that young children learn best from the powerful role model of parents/caregivers who are actively making music. The program brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and by facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home within the context of daily life. Music Together encourages parents to be musical with their children at home by helping them develop the tools they need: ideas for activities and confidence in their own abilities.

What you can expect from a Mixed-Ages Music Together program:
- A community of children and their families and teachers sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement activities in relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented settings.
- Music learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of very young children.
- Children participating at their own levels in mixed-age family-style classes.
- Parents and caregivers contributing to the enrichment of their child’s music environment—regardless of their own musical abilities.
- A new song collection every semester for three years, featuring great arrangements of original and traditional songs in a wide variety of tonalities, meters, and cultural styles.
This is your chance to nurture your child’s inner musician!
Our classes will help to provide your child with a basic musical foundation that will help them enjoy and appreciate music throughout their lives as well as prepare them for individual instrument study should they choose to do so.
